Buying a cell phone for your child
Many Parents decide to buy a phone for their child so he has access to either parent. As conscious co-parents, please consider where you stand on phone use, screen time, and what is age appropriate for your child. There is so much research on how too much screen time adversely affects children. Too many children have phones and access to technology too early and their minds are not able to comprehend it. If you feel certain a phone is necessary, then purchase a prepaid phone, or a phone with texting and calls only, for children up to age eleven or twelve. After age twelve, place parental controls on your child’s phone and look into safeguarding it.
